II have always wanted to be an artist. I wanted to go to an art school but my father said no because there were too many weird people in the arts. I attended a teachers college in our hometown as an art major. During second semester they sent me into a second grade classroom to student teach. To say I hated it would be an understatement.
My life then became that of a homemaker and sales representative. I did not take much time for art but continued to be creative in decorating homes etc. In 2001 I decided to take a year to see if I still had enough passion and talent to be an artist full time. I have the passion and the art isn't half bad. I have read, studied and painted non-stop since. My work has been on display in several places and has been accepted into several juried Art Shows. I have been featured in the newpaper. I know I will paint for the rest of my life.
In late 2003 I was named Director of Visual Arts for the Osceola Center for the Arts. I hope to use my passion for visual arts and my sales and marketing background to help emerging and mid-level artists get more recognition, hopefully sell more of their work and create a passion in young and budding artists. Currently President of Gallery One Artists, artist owned and operated co-op gallery.
